President of the Republic of Srpska attends the Government of the Republic of Srpska Thematic Session

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attended the Thematic Session of the Government of the Republic of Srpska at which the situation in the field of preschool, primary and secondary education was discussed. The President of the Republic emphasized that education is the key to the development of Srpska.

“We need to modernise and improve the education system in every aspect and that is why we need to start reforming it”, said the President Cvijanović at a press conference after the Thematic Session of the Republic of Srpska Government.

According to the President of the Republic, it is necessary to start the education reform, since Srpska no longer has to deal with elementary financial problems.

“The real term for the reform is the “New School for a New Age” and I am certain that parents and teaching staff would welcome all that needs to be done, since the Government is committed to improving and creating better conditions for educators and students in schools. This includes improved infrastructure, better equipment, teaching aids, innovation and modernisation in the system of teaching and acquiring knowledge“, said the President Cvijanović.

The President of the Republic of Srpska said that there is less than 10 percent of the staff to be retired in the coming years, which means that education in a way comes out of the traditional framework.

“The Republican Pedagogical Institute and the Institute for Education of Adults must keep up with the resource ministry in the implementation of the education reforms. It is also important to mention the agreement reached with employers over the practice work. For that reason, I expect the institutions to take responsibility and take seriously the issues of retraining and further qualification, since our progress is related to education”, said the President Cvijanović and added that one of the problems is the smaller number of enrolled students.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that the issue of education was also linked to the national programme of demographic reconstruction and that on September 11 matters related to this issue would be promoted.
