Republic of Srpska President Opens “From Gallery to Museum” Exhibition

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, opened this evening in Banja Luka the “From a Gallery to a Museum” exhibition, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.

Congratulating the management and employees on the 50th anniversary of existence and work of this important cultural institution, the President of Srpska thanked everyone who contributed to the fact that today we can all be proud of the success achieved in stages and by several generations of employees.

President Cvijanović said that this is one of the great jubilees being marked at the time of the coronavirus pandemic, with due respect to all epidemiological measures.

“By marking this important anniversary, the Museum of Contemporary Art wants to showcase its development path, in which it moved from being a local to becoming a republic institution, and it is really an important organisation, not only for Banja Luka, but for the whole of the Republic of Srpska,” stressed the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that she is very happy that the will to succeed and enthusiasm were not lost along the development path and that today this museum is well positioned and has achieved good international co-operation, good connections and communication with many other similar institutions around the world.

“I think it is a great wealth. After all, we could see all the displays in the Museum only thanks to the work or arrival of certain renowned world artists. I think it is a real gem for Banja Luka and Srpska,” stated President Cvijanović.

According to the President of Srpska, it is up to the institutions to do their job.

“In the past few years, since the end of the global economic crisis, we have managed to invest significant resources in cultural institutions, trying to make the investments even and stimulating for all those involved, and for them to be able to see that the institutions are there for them. Furthermore, we need a lot of progress, a lot of financial resources and support and positioning in society, as this museum deserves, and so do our other cultural institutions,” the President of the Republic noted.
