The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, laid a wreath today, together with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Nedeljko Čubrilović, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković, at the Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of the People’s Liberation War on occasion of 22 April – the Day of the City of Banja Luka.

The President of the Republic said that Banja Luka must always be proud of her past, her history and the many sacrifices that were made for freedom.

“Celebrating everything that is important from the past, and remembering the victims, we must also look to the future and take care of what will be done in the coming period,” noted President Cvijanović.

The President of the Republic congratulated the people of Banja Luka on their City’s Day, but also congratulated the whole of the Republic of Srpska, remarking that the holiday of any local community is also a holiday of Srpska.

President Cvijanović stressed that there are big plans for Banja Luka, which has become a modern and developed European city.

“What is adequate today and exists in developed European cities also exists in our Banja Luka, and we must be proud of that,” stated the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska pointed out that it is of utmost importance not to stop the future development of Banja Luka, and added that a connection should always be made between achievements and plans, history and future.

“I believe in Banja Luka, in her development, I believe that she will continue being a city of people coming together, a city welcoming to everyone from Europe that needs not be ashamed of anything that exists in this city, and especially not be ashamed of her great history,” concluded President Cvijanović.
