President of the Republic of Srpska meets with Assistant Administrator for USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia in Washington


The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met in Washington today with Assistant Administrator for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Europe and Eurasia Brock Bierman.

The discussion topics included the previous cooperation of the Republic of Srpska institutions with the USAID mission, the projects implemented, as well as future USAID assistance programmes.

The President Cvijanović assessed that in the past period the cooperation between the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and USAID has been very good and useful, and that numerous projects have been implemented in the Republic of Srpska in the fields of tourism, agriculture, energy efficiency, financial stability and environmental protection.

The President Cvijanović stressed that the Republic of Srpska was interested in improving economic cooperation with the USA in all fields of common interest, and thanked the USAID for its development assistance.

Both sides jointly expressed willingness to continue their partnership in the future, particularly when it comes to programmes aimed at supporting young people, economic development, attracting investments and creating new jobs.

During the visit to the United States of America, the President Cvijanović visited the Hudson Institute, where she met with the President of the Institute Kenneth R. Weinstein.

The President of the Republic of Srpska met with representatives of Jewish organisations in the USA in Washington.

The President Cvijanović and Executive Vice President and CEO of NCSEJ, the American organisation supporting Eurasian Jews Mark Levin, discussed the memory of the death camps in the Second World War and the great suffering of the Serbs, Jews and Roma.

They also discussed plans for the construction of a new memorial complex in Donja Gradina, which will be jointly implemented by the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as the upcoming commemoration of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Ustasha Crime-Genocide in Jasenovac Concentration Camp and its largest execution site Donja Gradina.
